Exploration – Questions To Ask Ourselves

Things To Think About  –

There are a few things we want to ask ourselves as we are progressing through the project such as –

  • What do we want people to feel?
  • How do they make it through the experience?
  • What does happiness or this experience look like?
  • How do people respond to it?
  • How do we make it?
  • What does happiness or this experience sound like?

Impact

Now that we are towards the end of the project looking back at this I feel like I might actually have a way to answer some of these questions from what we have learnt along the way  which is incredible when I think about. Although some of these aspects are no longer relevant some of the questions still stand such as –

What do we want people to feel? Well we want people to feel happy, immersed, relaxed and informed about the experience the person has just been through using virtual reality.

How do they make it through the experience? Well the user sits through and interview experience and looks around at all of the visuals that appear around them as they receive information about the artist. The explorable section of the gallery was explored through use of a keyboard and mouse and now is making use of a xbox 360 controller.

What does happiness or this experience look like? Part of this experience looks like a surreal particle filled space and gives the feeling of emptiness. The other part looks a lot like a gallery giving the user free reign to explore.

How do people respond to it?  So far people are pretty shocked and amazed but the ultimate user experience test will be the end of year show when we find out what people thought about the experience.

How do we make it? We make it through blood sweat and tears and a variety of very awesome software like Unity, Adventure Creator, Maya, Capture and Visualise. We then make use of the Depthkit hardware.

What does this experience sound like? This experience sounds relaxing and like the participant is in an isolate immersive experience. We feel that the sound in combination with the experience gives the user time to take a moment from real life.
