Arnold Rendering Engine – Studio Lighting Setup

Our class on Thursday involved diving into some tutorials for arnold on the Solid Angle website. We have made the move from mental ray to arnold to achieve a better lifespan on our skills and also to get higher rendering quality. Class involved a series of tutorials setting up a studio lighting set up and our homework was to setup the photography setup that we witnessed in the photography workshop the previous week. This involves setting up some cubes in the studio set up and lighting and shading them correctly and then rendering them out.

The tutorials proved to be quite difficult since my skills in maya have been eradicated by learning Houdini so as I was out of practice I have since been getting back in the game and working through the tutorials out of class to get up to speed. My introduction to arnold was not as nice as I had hoped it would be but now i’m starting to get into it I rather like it.
