Day One Houdini – Particles, Physics

 

In this exercise my task was to emit particles from a moving object that had physics applied to it in the form of a constraint. In order to do this I made a tourus which is pretty basic and is done in the same way you would create a torus in maya. The next stage was to make the object an RBD (Rigid body dynamic) Object this applied the force of gravity to the object and made it fall down into space.

I wanted to achieve a swing so I was able to use the RBD pin constraint to pin the objects rope as such to the origin of the grid so when it was swinging it would fall back and forth like a pendulum instead of falling into space.Screen Shot 2013-12-06 at 11.12.06

Adding particles was pretty straight forward  I was able to select the torus and go to particle fluids and then select emit particle fluid so that the particles would appear to radiate from the torus however I did notice that at the start of the sim it looks like the torus is breaking apart into the particles.
